Media Development

Media Development is one of our fastest growing sectors, although other areas are battling hard not to be left behind. Craig is working on two separate software packages for the Red Digital Cinema Cameras, a 3-D game engine for Flash, and has sped up development on the new AX Engine for Arbitrator Xtreme allowing us to move the scheduled release date up to September of this year.

Wheee

Whatever you're doing Craig, keep it up! We'll certainly be watching closely to see what comes out of the lab and whizzing by us next.

Since the world has migrated more and more disciplines into the digital realm, boundaries continue to be blurred and opportunities keep opening up which cut clear across old boundaries.

Ultra High Definition imaging, documents which create and communicate online with each other. No Browser Required!

Encrypted software which decrypts itself as its needed and then re-encrypts itself as it goes out of scope. These are just a few of the many items which have emerged from our labs and moved from the theoretical into actual working products.

Before you go poking around inside, and you do wish you'd poke around inside, we want to show you that not everything here at TechYou just started with the company a few years back. Take a quick read of the next section on Living Manuals.

Living Manuals

Mixed media first reached forward in 2003 when the Arbitrator project was started by Craig before TechYou media was even conceived. Michael Geary a Senior Engineer at Adobe Systems and creator of the Media Support Environment for Acrobat Version 6.0 said this:

Subject: RE: Acrobat multimedia JavaScript

WOW!!!

Craig, you are a genius! I believe I just learned how to spell "Turing Machine"!

Seriously, I mean that as the highest of compliments. The sheer level of
ingenuity you've shown here is just astounding.

Mind if I share this with some of the other folks at Adobe? This has
just made my day.

Thanks!

Mike

About Us | Media Development | Software | Television | Motion Pictures

TechYou Digital Media draws upon decades of experience in film and television to deliver you outstanding production value. We assess each shoot and choose the people, systems and processes to make each production a unique cinematic experience.

TechYou Media believes every production can benefit from the look and production values we see at the movies and we strive to bring this into all our work.

Traditional television uses a picture format which looks almost like a box. Recently wider screen televisions were introduced. The best viewing experience however, by far, has always been those big dynamic widescreen epics we get to see down at our local movie theatre.

Dolly Shot
Camera Crane Platform

All of those were shot in special widescreen formats known as cinemascope or even wider, which is just called scope.

Scope was the format used for the Tallus Ridge Film. Whether you watch it on Blu-Ray or directly from the Web, scope takes in so much more of the available image area and is the perfect format to display all of the richness and beauty which is Tallus Ridge.

Most standard video based systems are just not set up to be able to record cinemascope let alone scope.

The next time you have an exciting project, who's story needs to be delivered with the maximum impact, give us a call.

TechYou Digital Media will be happy to sit down and discuss all of the possibilities with you to maximize the best use of your available budget.

Red Digital Cinema Camera
Video and Digital Cinema Media Production

TechYou Digital Media has two main system solutions. Standard Definition, (SD) production and Ultra High Resolution production also known as Digital Cinema (DC).

Seen to the left here is our new Red One Digital Cinema Camera.

What is the difference between Standard Definition and Digital Cinema?
Standard Definition (SD) production is the standard broadcast signal of 525 lines on your television set or 720 pixels wide by 480 pixels tall on a computer screen. Digital Cinema is 4096 pixels wide by 2048 pixels tall on your computer screen or roughly over four times the amount of information in a High Definition (HD) picture.

TechYou Digital Media is one of the leading pioneers in Canada of the world wide movement to Digital Cinema technology and is a licensed developer of the Red Digital Cinema Camera Company. When your just hearing about it, we're already using and developing for it!

Tallus Ridge Film
TechYou Digital Media produced a short presentation digital film for Rekoncile Newmedia for use on a project they were doing for the developer of Tallus Ridge in West Kelowna.

Rich Internet Applications (RIA)
are becoming more predominant as Web 2.0 technology sweeps in as the new norm. Its always nice to discover you've been on the front edge of technology and others are beginning to come around to realize you've been where they wanted to be all along.

TechYou Digital Media has a myriad of solutions to all of your RIA requirements. Many of our leading edge software products started out as concepts to meet the growing kinds of requests and requirements sought after by our clients.

The team at TechYou Digital Media can produce a wide variety of applications for you. Its really a matter of what your needs are. The same kinds of tools which people have traditionally relegated to their desktop are now starting to show up online.

The Rich Media Application
seen in the panel to the right is using a connection to a remote database table to drive a custom set of renderers to reformat and display the data in a variety of stylized formats. To obtain your own copy or review pricing info go to the software section.

Media Integration
Media Integration
TechYou Digital Media is a strong proponent of integrated media. Integration is the effective blending of video. audio, animation, remote data, scripted code, and streaming media.

Eye tracking software has demonstrated time and again that the eye movements tend to cluster at the upper left areas of a page. Building an effective page that conducts the eye to move to desired areas and at times you choose is just one of the many applications which are taking advantage of media integration.

Perfect Martini Example

Click on the Example to the left labelled "The Perfect Martini". Up comes a "Living Manual" that uses Media Integration to guide you through the preparation of the Perfect Martini.

The database table below makes use of a remote database. Various cell renderers take text references and in one instance convert the reference to a graphic image. Holding the mouse button down on a graphic in the table renders a larger version of that graphic towards the centre of the table and slighty below the header display.

You can move the dividers around by clicking and dragging on the vertical divider lines in the header area. Clicking on a header sorts by that column in ascending and then descending order. The table was linked to and fully styled using the Craig's Wranglers Suite. You can see a sample set of overview screen recordings of how this kind of table is built by clicking on the following links: Wrangler Overview Part One || Wrangler Overview Part Two.

Integrating a spokesmodel is becoming a way of adding a more personal touch to your Website. This clip is just one of the "takes" from the Tech You TV series. We can shoot a professional spokesmodel for you or you can supply your own or even one of your staff or executives.

Click on the blue bolded text above "Integrating a spokesmodel" will replay the spokesmodel sequence from the beginning again. This is a very basic example of media integration but shows how different scripting types can easily be brought together seamlessly.

You might use a spokesmodel or even a key individual from your own organization to deliver a special message for you or to introduce the viewer to a new product or service. The level of complexity is really based on what it is you need to have happen.

Media Integration breaks the traditional boundaries of what people think the web is capable of handling. TechYou Digital Media is constantly pushing the boundaries in this area and resulted in products like Arbitrator Pro and Arbitrator Xtreme which provide for total integration between PDF and SWF so that PDF based documents can form their own network tasks completely independant of Web Browsers. Suddenly a set of PDF documents take on all of the behaviours and characteristics of being online themselves.

The result are "living documents" with their own network system and can be linked and updated from any number of connected databases. This doesn't mean this is the only way these "living documents" can be networked. You can still have them displayed fully inside of a standard Web Browser using the Adobe Reader free plug-in. Its just one more example of the power of using Integrated Web Media.

Email us or give us a call and we'll be happy to sit down with you and discuss all of your integration requirements.
